Alethea Kontis
A former child actress, Chemistry major, and Orson Scott Card Boot Camper (class of
2003), New York Times bestselling author and self-proclaimed Genre Chick Alethea Kontis's
first foray into the literary world was a mixed-up picture book-AlphaOops: The Day Z Went
First. (The sequel, AlphaOops: H is for Halloween, will be published in 2009.)
In 2005, she co-edited the critically acclaimed SF all-star Elemental: New Stories of
Science Fiction and Fantasy for Tor Books. She also penned the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunter
Companion (St. Martin's Press). Her short stories have appeared in Realms of Fantasy, Orson
Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show, and featured in Apex Online
(http://www.apexdigest.com/online.shtml). Beauty and Dynamite, a collection of her published
and unpublished essays (featuring cameos by various authors and editors you know and love),
will be released in January 2008.
Alethea lives in Tennessee, where she works as a buyer for Ingram Book Company, a
contributing editor for Apex Science Fiction and Horror Digest, and a freelance editor for Solaris
